Scope
Scope: Objectives The Consolidator Grant supports excellent Principal Investigators who are consolidating their own independent research team or programme. A Consolidator Grant Principal Investigator should have already shown evidence of research independence. Size of ERC Consolidator Grants Consolidator Grants may be awarded up to a maximum of EUR 2 000 000 for a period of 60 months . The maximum amount of the grants is reduced pro rata temporis for proposals of shorter duration. Additional funding up to EUR 1 000 000 *1 can be requested to cover further eligible costs for any cost category when these are necessary to carry out the proposed work. The request for additional funding must be duly justified in the proposal. The maximum amount of the grant is reduced pro rata temporis for proposals of shorter duration. Additional funding is not subject to pro rata temporis reduction for projects of shorter duration. Both the grant amount and any additional funding requested are assessed during evaluation. *1 Except for Principal Investigators in Starting, Consolidator, or Advanced Grant re-locating to the EU or an Associated Country from elsewhere to take up their ERC grant. In this case, the maximum additional funding shall be EUR 2 000 000. Applicants requesting more than EUR 1 000 000 as additional funding must be based outside the EU or an Associated Country at the time of the call deadline for the increased maximum additional funding to apply. Profile of the ERC Consolidator Grant Principal Investigator The Principal Investigators will be eligible for a Consolidator Grant if they have defended their PhD in the five to fifteen-year period preceding the 1st of January 2027. Cut-off dates: Successful defence of PhD between 1 January 2012 and 31 December 2021 (inclusive) * 2 . Principal Investigators who have already held a Starting or a Consolidator Grant in the past will not be able to apply for the same type of grant. Other eligibility or resubmission criteria might also apply. The eligibility period may be extended beyond 15 years in some well-documented circumstances or events. See section 1.4 Admissibility, Eligibility, Resubmission Restrictions of the ERC Work Programme 2027 . *2 A Principal Investigator applying for an ERC Starting or Consolidator Grant must hold a PhD or an equivalent doctoral degree at the time of the call deadline.
What consortia for this call have looked like
3,867 projects
have been funded under this line
(ERC-COG) in Horizon Europe and H2020. This is what they
were made of — not a recommendation, just what the Commission signed.
At this volume it is a recurring
scheme rather than a one-off topic, so the shape below is the scheme's norm — worth
knowing, since a single-beneficiary scheme needs no consortium at all.

The mix of organisations
This is the shape, not the consortium. It says how many partners these projects had and what kinds of organisation were in them. It does not know whether your idea needs the same mix, who is available, who is already committed elsewhere, or how the work and the budget should be divided. Those are judgement calls on a specific proposal, and no amount of public data answers them.
Building the actual consortium — finding the partners, agreeing the roles, and writing it so it survives an evaluation — is what Scientific Network Management does. Free either way; the radar does not change if you never ask.
Get told when something changes
Most institutions find out about a call with three weeks left. We write when something opens, moves or closes that fits what you work on, with the deadline, the fit and the funder's own exclusion clauses quoted. Nothing in a quiet week. Free, and one click to leave.
Starting from the programme you are reading: Horizon Europe (HORIZON) — change it below if you like.
Leave the second box empty and you get whatever opened or changed recently, closing soonest. Fill it in and it ranks against your words instead: that is the difference between a list and a shortlist.
Scientific Network Management will send you the current list for these terms, and after that only what changes: a call that opens, a deadline that shifts, a clause that rules you out. Nothing is sent when nothing has moved. One click to stop, in every message.
One confirmation email and nothing else until you click it. No tracking pixels, no sharing, one click to unsubscribe.

A funding strategy reads your institution's own published record against the calls that are open, and says in writing which are worth the year and which to decline, with the reason for each.
